Side pipe covers/heat shields
What is available to cover up side pipes so that one does not get burned? My dad and I may bend up some 3" stainless tubing for side pipes and I'm worried that I or my passenger will get a good burn at some point. So what's available for covers that fit over 3"? Will it be too loud with 3" pipes and no sound muffling? Like "get pulled over by a cop" too loud?

They may be nice, but not $300 nice. I'll roll my own stainless shield for that much thank you. I was thinking something less than $100, and that is even pushing it.

Re: Side pipe covers/heat shields (NHvette)
If I just took some aluminum and rolled it and bolted that on over the pipe with a gap, would that be enough? How big of a gap would I need to assure the heat won't transfer enough to burn flesh?
