Vaguely considering the possibility...
...of selling my '80 at some point later this year and trying to find a solid C3 'vert.
What kind of money would I be looking at for a vert in good condition?
I'd love a BB, but I don't think I want to put out that kind of money...
The '80 has been a solid car for me, but it's finally turned into a weekend driver with the '94 being a daily driver. Being a weekend driver makes me really long for a 'vert. The idea of parting with the '80 is hard though... Still not sure I can do it, but the thought is nagging me from the back of my mind.

I know the feeling, Chris. As summer approaches I think about a convertable more and more but I need to save my pennies for a '71 vert. So I don't think it's crazy, I think it's a good idea. On the off chance that you sell the '80, what date was it built? I'm looking for a Vette built on 15 Aug 1980. The last 5 digits on the VIN would range from 39653 to 39812.

I must have missed your post on find a job. Belated congratulations! It must be a good job to afford your new daily driver.
You could always make you 80 into a vert. all you need is a backhalf of a later vert.... Now that would be cool. There used to be a guy on here from western Canada with a black big block 80 vert..... the car looked amazing. I'll seee if I can dig up his name and some pics.
Remeber you only have one 1st vette! You may regert selling it.
I suggest make it a vert and hotrod it!!!!

Re: Vaguely considering the possibility... (burners)
Built Dec 24th 1979.
I was considering dropping a bunch of cash to redo the entire drive train and suspension. It doesn't necessarily need it, but it couldn't hurt.
I was thinking of turning that money plus any money I make off of selling it (it's still financed, but I'm almost halfway through the payments, so there's at least a couple of thousand there) and using that money for a downpayment on a nice condition 'vert...
I haven't told my wife about this idea, yet, though. ;)

Verts are sweet, glad I bought one. But a back seat is nice too so I bought a Formula. Got one to drive while I monkey with the other. :)

Not sure if TX is higher, but I've seen NOM chrome bumper verts from the mid-teens and up. With the economy the way it is, you may even be able to find a NOM BB in the mid to high teens. If it's a matching numbers BB car, it will most likely be in the mid to high 20s with SB cars at high teens to mid 20s. I'm assuming that you are not concerned with matching numbers so you should be able to find one at a decent price. Get a BB car if you can; you only live once! Good luck with your search.

Definitely not concerned with matching numbers.
I have a feeling that my price range might be in the mid-upper teens...so it just might work.
