The tire carrier Vstrap had been chromed on my vette approx 25 years ago
it is badly pitted ann the paint does not stick well to the chrome

I would consider replacement parts or finding someone who could acid bath this for you....I believe after an acid bath the part would still be pitted.

I'm not a chemist....but after reading this website, I think it would be easier to make crack....

My air cleaner assembly was totally chromed and had discolored and pitted..put my Sears sand blaster to work and blasted the chrome right off. Have you considered going this route :thumbs:
