C5 Mufflers on a C3?
How do you guys think this would sound? i want something mild, but throathy. i know C5 exaust is pretty timid, but i should be pushing more air than a stock LS1. I was just thinking of these because i could probably get them pretty cheap. it will be a temporary setup, until i get the exaust for the turbo done.

I would think the muffler cost + the custom fabrication to mount them would end up costing more than just a C3 mufflers... :skep:

well i would be the one to install them. ive seen a couple on ebay going for less that $70 for the pair, but im sure theres some C5ers out there that just got new exaust and dont need thier old mufflers. :yesnod:
installing then wont be that hard at all. ive already got duals all the way back to the rear spring, and i used to be a damn good welder, i just have to practice a little before i weld these up.

Are you going to go without the spare tire? Otherwise there's no way to make them fit. Remember that inlet and outlet is on the same side on a C5 muffler.
You may be better off with either a C4 muffler, or a walker quietflow.

you can get a set of new dynomax superturbos for $70 plus shipping, then you just need to tack on the hangers and tailpipe. just a thought... I still don't see the C5 mufflers working...

I think I still have a pic of a steel bumpered vette with C5 style exaust and they look very cool. Let me see if I can find it.

Basically im thinking that i could get some C5 mufflers for the cost of shipping throught the forum, or maybe like $25-$50 through the forum. there are alot of good C5ers, you just have to find em ;)
heres an auction im watching on ebay, but im pretty sure the forum will give me a better deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...402137376&rd=1

Just my opinion, but I like the way the C5 mufflers sound, even more so if you can get them cheap!

One thing you need to remember is the C5's have a different firing order. That makes them have a unique sound that is quite different from a standard small block.

Re: C5 Mufflers on a C3? (70 LS1)
Oh i know, thats not really the issue. i just want C5 ones because they are inexpensive, and sound good. i doubt it will sound anything like a C5 because of all the diffrences, but they are still deep sounding. and no i dont like the glasspack sound sorry :)

Re: C5 Mufflers on a C3? (Cajun75)
i know! i expected to have to wait a couple weeks, but i guess C5s get swapped exausts pretty often. I will be taking alot of pics of this, and i'll try and get some video with sound too.
about finding the good C5ers, i didnt even have to look! it was like searching for Waldo in a group of Waldos! if that makes any sense... :D
