Default Where can I buy the LT-1 hood paint decal?

I used to have the site but lost it somehow, thankyou for any assistance. I am near ready to strip and repaint but want to put the hood LT-1 pin striping back on after paint. As soon as the weather lets up and I can move the vette to my friends garage, I pull the interior, lay down brown bread and b-cool replace seats and do exterior. Next year I will take the very mild cam out and go more aggressive to get over the 500 hp mark. The vette has to be ready for BG, as I promised my wife a trip to Nashville for our 18th anniversary. I will let her in on the 50th goings ons when we get there as I am sure that she will be totally thrilled about the Corvette show as well. :skep:

gdh,

The only company I know that actually manufactures the hood stripe stencil is Stencils & Stripes Unlimited.

http://www.stencilsandstripes.com/

The stripe stencil is quite good for both styles of LT-1 stripes (1970 [most] and 1970 [very late] - 1972), but the LT-1 decals for the hood are a bit lacking in my opinion. I'd try and track these down as either NOS or from a different aftermarket supplier.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks Stan, I just need the paint stencils and wouldn't put the LT-1 decals on anyway as mine is a ZR-1.

gdh,

You're welcome!

Despite having a seperate option code that included the LT-1 engine, all ZR-1s built between 1970-1972 carried the LT-1 decal identification on the hood.

If personal taste leads you to leave it off, by all means do so... Just thought it worth mentioning that production ZR-1s DID carry the LT-1 label on the hood like the rest of the LT-1s.

I'd really love to get a look at your car one of these days... Sounds like a neat piece of hardware! :)

We should get together this summer then. The only pic that I had seen of mine before it was restored in mid '80s didn't show much of the original hood at all as it had been repainted in the mid 70's when something in the guys shop (he owned a GM dealership) fell on it and cracked the hood. From the pic I just couldn't make out that there was an LT-1 decal on it. I had thought that he did a body off resto. but I was under it a few weeks ago and still has the original shims on it. In the 80's resto. the guy put an aftermkt. ac unit in, ps, radio and heater. Ripped the ac out but left the ps and installed a new stereo. I have been slowly putting it back to its former glory, but upgraded to a MountainMotor 383 stroker with a very mild cam - I for some stupid reason last year was adamant about keeping it under the 500 hp mark, he did but just barely. The frame has never been damaged, straight and no rust after 31 years. I still have the original heads and a few other parts of the engine but it does have over 108k on the speedo. Will be stripping asap (weather permitting) and have decided on Monza Red. Will be putting down brown bread and b-cool then the C5 seats and Cragar SS's (thanks again Olivier). How far are you from Kutztown?
