Default Dual Spal install question

Dual Spals are going in this evening. I have already installed the temp. sensor in the head, removed the fan/clutch, and removed the radiator shroud. A "test fit" has the assembly hitting the front A-arm bushing before it goes all the way in. I'm confused....does the radiator have to come out for this job? Even if it does, it seems they would still hit on the A-arms. HELP!! Install from the bottom after removing the sway bar????? Confused here folks! :banghead:

I mounted mine to the radiator and then put them in as a unit. When done they will fit between the a-arms, but I had to slide my fan mounts over a few inches to be centered properly between the a-arms, they only clear by about a 1/2" on each side. If it wont go in with the radiator in place just remove the top 2 rad support bolts in both wheel wells and loosen the bottom bolt and pivot the whole rad and support forward a few inches.

I put mine in weekend before last. This is what I did: remove the fan assembly mounting brackets from the fan assembly. The fan asembly will now fit in between the rad and a-arm. After you get the fans in place, put the mounting brackets back on. I had a <cough> <cough> Ford guy <ahem> helping me, so one of us held the fans while the other put the brackets back on, then we mounted the assembly to the rad. Easy install, even the wiring was easy.

I tried to slide mine in one evening after a long day of working on the car, I struggled and could not get it in. The next day I tried and somehow it popped right in place. It is a tight fit, but I did not have to remove the radiator to get them in place.
I'd suggest trying again, sometimes it helps to hold your mouth just right when your doing it! :D

Got it!!! Kept fi****lin' it around and snap! it went in!!!! Key is to lower the driver's side in first, then remove the lower radiatior hose to get the other side in. Cool!! Ordered the March serpentine conversion kit today, so that goes in after the Spals!! All polished and clear powdercoated!!!! With the new Sanden compressor waiting on the shelf and a new chrome alternator on the way! :hurray:

Mark B. I mounted my relays on the left fender well, near the horn relay. I got my 12v power from the 12v terminal on the starter solenoid. I plugged the keyed power to the relays to a spare socket off my ign. fuse panel. There is a orange (I think) wire with a blue spare socket on it. I just plugged in to it.
I ran separate 8 gauge wire from the 12v source to the two relays on my dual setup. There is a fuse in each circuit also.

I mounted my relay on the radiator support right there where the ground wire is. This I used as my ground also. I ran the hot legs over to the alternator so the fan would run when the car was still too warm after shutting down. I may decide to change this setup sometime in the future if it leaves me stranded but I don`t think it will.
I am not running Spals though. I am thinking maybe I should have. I may also switch this too.

Zwede has a wiring diagram that uses two sensors and runs both fans at low rpm when the first, medium temp sensor kicks in. Both fans run at high rpm when the second, higher temp sensor kicks in.
Perhaps he will post it to the archives.
