Carb backfiring ... ONLY during off idle.
Carb i have is an Edelbrock EPS800. Pretty new. Has a bad off idle stumble accompanied with a backfire much of the time. When it is in the stumble, if i back off on the accelerator pedal a bit , i can make it go and the stumble will disappear. (Doesnt stumble at any other rpm...only when releasing the clutch).
Plugs look fine, fuel pressure is ok. Happens when engine is warm or cold.
Do I have too much pump shot ? Any thoughts ? Thanks,
RR

That's called lean poping. You need a bigger faster shot of gas. I don't know about your model Edl. carb. But the older ones like my 750 vac. Had a three position rod to change the squirt. Also on my present carb I drilled out the squirter jet size from .036 to .044
