Default Non-Vette: Original GT40

Original GT40 on Ebay, sorry but I would sell the C3 in a heartbeat to get my hands on one of these. It's one of the only exotics left on my 'Drive before I die' list.
Hubba Hubba! :steering:

I just don't like the driver seat location. Just seems awkward.

At least the shifter is still on the right! Even though this is probably my least favorite color scheme, the GT40 remains my all time favorite car. I would trade the L88 and the ZO6 for one in a heartbeat, yet I couldn't bear the laughter my request would cause.

I think I saw this car at Monterey during the Historics this last year. I am not so sure that it is a true original. The one I looked at was this same color scheme and was simply too perfect for me to take it for a 40 year old car. If it is an original, the original material must add up to less than 20 pounds worth. Many of the old classic cars are simply rebuilt around a few parts, a door hinge for example. :yesnod:

It's a great car. I've always admired them. Ford built them to take on Ferrari when Enzo spurned them, I recall. Small confession, my current Windows PC screensaver is a classic GT40. Not to worry though, it's only temporary -- the screensaver is the result of the N. American Internat'l Auto Show -- the C3 screensaver will be back shortly.

I asked the seller last night if he had engine pictures. He went and took these today. I wish I had the money...

The sound those "bundle of snakes" make with the 180 degree configuration is symphonic. If only I could do so on my L88!

Henry Ford wanted to buy Ferrari. Enzo refused. Ol' Henry said "well you suck anyway. We can build a better car than you". He ordered his people to beat Ferrari and only a few years later the GT40 took 1-2-3 at LeMans. Nothing like ego to create progress! :)
