The starter on my '69 is sticking - it does not want to disengage after the engine starts. It has one of those lightweight, gear-reduction starters on it (small block). I recently had to replace the solenoid, and it has been hanging up occasionally since then. I replaced the shims that were under the starter when I took it off, because I wasn't sure how to check the clearance to the flywheel.

Is this another bad solenoid, or could the clearance to the flywheel be off and causing it to stick? Or something else completely?
