Default Another Master Cylinder painting question....

The master cylinder on my '77 is rusty. I'd like to paint it black like it should be, but I don't want to remove it from the car to do it. Has anyone else attempted this with good results and have any tips for the procedure??!! Thanks!

Did mine in the car, not a big problem. I did however have the exhaust manifold, heat shields, and air tubes off and was able to get the bottom from enderneath the car. Taped off all around and went to town.

Best stuff in the world for master cylinders is manifold dressing (all the vette part catalogs sell it). It's made for making your exhaust manifolds look new--does the same thing for your MC. Also, since it's a paste, you can just dab a little on a cloth & rub it on, no need to mask anything. Looks great, almost no effort.

You may want to check out Eastwood company, they also have a large selection of different style paints. I have called them before and they are very helpful.

I used undercoat sprayed into a little cup then used a small brush to apply.
Seemed to work great that was two years ago
