400 block sonic checked ok!
Hey Guys,
So i was about to purchase a 500 bhp 406 when i discovered it had a cracked block (this was a few weeks ago).
The update is that I found another 400 block and it passed sonic checks and crack tests. Its been machined up and being assembled next week.
I managed to talk the guy down and picked up his intenals and heads for a song. So the rebuilt engine will have these parts
Dart Iron Eagle 215cc Heads
Crower 00245 Hyd cam
9.5:1 static compression
new hypereutectic pistons
Crower roller rockers
Holley 830 annular
Edelbrock Victor Jr
Custom 4 into 1 Headers.
Woohoo
Im hoping for upwards of 400 Hp at the flywheel.

I built mine based on a Car Craft buildup with the Dart 215 Iron Eagles that pulled 455hp through the mufflers using the Comp XE-284 and RPM intake.
Got to tell you this thing rocks! Pulled 6500 rpms the other day on the way to work. Felt like I was in a NASCAR car for a few seconds! :blueangel:

I think sonic checking and such is a waste of money. If the block can't handle it, it'd break, then you just move the parts over to a new block. But whatever I guess. And I want a 400, darnit!
