Front clip removal on 75 ?
I am removing the front clip on my 75 and I have broken loose everything except the area between the headlights and the end of the hood. It's the area that is bonded to a metal support across the width of the front end behind the headlights. Do I need to seperate this from the metal or unbolt the metal support all together ? Any advice would be very helpful! I did a search, but mostly found info on installation rather than remove. Thanks, JesseD

WOOOOAH, Are you removing the complete front clip or just the surround panel? Either way, dont do the header bar yet.

Jesse,
How did you seperate the bonding on both sides at the cowl? I need to do this on the 72 very soon! Any tip would be helpfull.
Thanks

you need to replace it). I don't think you've seen enough of it to know -yet.
In getting the front end off, yo uwill most likely be destroying your bumper
cover (if original). If you leave the bumper and cover in place, while simply
unbolting the front support from the frame horns (can be done), then
the weight of the bumper/support is going to wreak havoc on the fiberglass
and maybe even start cracking the bumper cover that you would try to save
by doing it this way. Alternatively, you should take the bumper cover off.
If it's original, then it will likely be sacrificed. If you think it's not going to be
salvagable, then take a razor knife and start cutting around the edges to get
it out of your way. With the cover removed, the bumper core is simply bolted
up. Get the wrenches out and start removing stuff. There are two bolts - one
at each end of the bumper core - and a few bolts at the center support.
Once all the bumper stuff is out, the headlight assemblies should probably be
removed for refurbishing. (The snowball gets bigger). Now, you get a good
look at the header bar. My 75 was trashed. I need a new one before the front
clip goes back on the 70.
I'm sure I left a thing or two out - but you'll figure it out as you proceed.

I really didnt have to seperate them. They were starting to seperate by them selves ! I guess it is from a bad bonding by the previous owner. This is the reason I am removing the clip. It is a first for me too.

Unless you want to put the vette up for a long time and spend lots of $$,
I would suggest trying to bond the rear section back onto the firewall/cowl.
If you remove the doors (bolt-up) and some of the under-hood crapola
that gets in the way, you should be able to bond it back just like that. Maybe
get most of the surfaces scuffed and prepped with some coarse sandpaper.
This isn't ideal, but it may be your only bet - short of tearing the whole front apart.
