Default [OT] Oh, oh......the new GTO will NOT be available in Canada.

The Australian-built 2004 Pontiac GTO (V-8 / rear-wheel drive) will soon arrive in North America, but Canadians won't be able to buy it unless GM upgrades the GTO's bumpers to meet Canada's 8 km/h (5 mph) standards.

Washington lets automakers use flimsier 4 km/h (2.5 mph) bumpers on cars for sale in the U.S.

GTO power specs look real good.... but the styling/body looks way too conservative for my tastes.

If you ask nicely,we'll send you one of ours......Seriously,you will amazed how well they handle provided the GM engineers don't soften it too much....john

Not impressed a bit at the new *GTO*. I would have thought they would have done something creative to make it not appear like the Grand Prix. Fast or not.... a GM flop to come back with the fabled GTO this way.

 that styling is just too boring to wear the GTO badge, in a competition btn this car and the new Mustang GT the stang is heads and shoulders above the GTO IMHO

These pics were on the AutoWeek web site. http://www.autoweek.com/specials/2003_la/

The car may look somwhat plain but when you see it I bet it will look very different in person. It is a full size car, not a compact, so that should give it a whole different stance on the street. It is what I have been waiting for, a front V8, RWD, two door sedan that will seat four adults in comfort and have good, if not great performance. It is to have the LS1 with 340 to 350 hp and there is talk of an LS6 option with over 400 hp. :D

Take the $ and buy a real GTO. :yesnod:

You could spend the money to get a 60's GTO but you would have a slower car (they were only about 370 GROSS hp, this one is 350 to maybe 400 NET hp). Also this one will stop and go around a corner, the originals had a very hard time doing that.

I think it needs some styling help. It looks good, but too conservative. It needs some retro-looking hood scoops, like the 60's GTO had. It has nothing on the outside that lets you know it is a "GTO" (other than the rather small badges)
I'm sure it performs and handles great, but it looks too much like all the other cars out there. I was really hoping for some kind of distinctive look.
What a shame the car is so boring, if it had looked better I might have bought one, now I'll just stick to my plan of getting a Silverado SS later this year.

Have you every tried to sit in the back of a camaro? I think these casrs are more of a 4 seater than a 2+2 like the Camaro. Plus, GM doesn't have to design them/manufacture them... etc. they just import them from Holden! and then Charge a premium because it a limited quanity of cars.

Ya but I would have a woody will riding around in a old, slow car. If I had to choose between the 2 for a daily driver, the new GTO would be a no brainer. Get an Old LeMans and sink $10,000 into performance/handling then slap some GTO badges on it and you got a sweet pseudo GTO, kinda like what the new GTO is. :)

Looks good, looks fast, but dosent look like a GTO :nonod: they should have never made the Vibe (:U ) and given this car its name.

does anyone remember the original GTO concept? that kicked arss. it was far from conservative. :smash:

As the PROUD owner of a 65 GTO (original WT 389 / 335 hp) I am a little sad with the styling. The goat was known for distinctive looks and performance to match. A lot too much $$$ for me as well. Pontiac should follow ALL the history and make it inexpensive and flood the market. They should also have a no (1LE type) version. Ditch the uneeded BS and make it light. I can't imagine a cup holder in mine when I'm grabbing third at 5500 rpm!!
