Sorry Lars. The Re-curve Kit...
I received this week is just so fine I could not resist posting a pic. Many have spoken of it but none to my knowledge have shown what it is. So here is the pic (high res). Excellent workmanship, packaging and clarity of text in terms of instructions. A very nice package. I look forward to installation in spring. And BTW a technician where I work has volunteered to do the set-up job with his Snap-On timing light. So no outlay for that. Many thanks. I admire professionalism and your contribution to Corvetting falls in that class :) .

I got one of his recurve kits for my old points distributor last year, the guy puts out a very professional product. Much, much better instructions than anything I have ever purchased from one of the major parts distributors.
We are very lucky to have access to Lars and his expertise.

Thanks for the kind words! Glad to hear you like what you see, and I hope the installation of the kit works well for you. Obviously, the amount of improvement you obtain with the kit depends on the existing state of tune of the engine and the exact condition of the existing ignition advance curve, but everyone who has installed the kit to date (and that I have heard from) has actually noticed a set-of-the-pants feel improvement with the kit. I hope you achieve good results as well. Do contact me if you have any questions or if you need any assistance with the installation and the tuning process - as you probably noticed, the instructions are intended to give you enough of an understanding of the tuning process that you can get your car "tweaked" to perform its best, using the kit parts as a tool and tuning aid to get you there. Have fun!!

Does Lars have a website/catalog where I might peruse his offerings and send him the last few $$$ in my bank account?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks to you Lars. Come April, the kit, new free-flow mufflers, new intake and gaskets and (Irene Cara) "What a Feeling." BTW, a little nostalgia. For more than 10 years I have taken my 1979 out of winter storage in April. A bit of a ritual ensues as I have not seen the car since late October. First the bath at the storage garage, then the shine, then the fire-up (symphony in C major) , then the cassette (this year CD) goes in: "What a Feeling". God when you wait five months it makes you want to....Well it is a nice feeling :) . Only 10 more weeks...........

Sorry to hear about your forced ritual.... here in Denver, we have the CCC (Colorado Corvette Crazies) over here with the tops down on the cars, and we're sitting in lawnchairs in the driveway drinking beer.... it's a hard life...
All -
The kits are still available to Forum Members. I've been keeping a low profile on it, because the kits are time-consuming to build, and I don't want to throw a bunch of profit onto the whole thing - it's just something I do for fun. I can ship international - no problem. I have a write-up about the kits, cost, payment info, etc - just drop me an e-mail request and I'll send it out to you. Sorry, I don't have a web site - you can find me in my lawnchair out in the driveway with a case of beer and a bunch of Vettes....stop by any time! My e-mail is:
V8FastCars@msn.com
I'll also be glad to answer any questions about the kits and to tackle any tuning problems and issues you might have - just drop me a note.

Well I have been having a few timing related problems myself. I think by reading one of Lars papers, I have too much timing. But I have been thinking of getting the recurve kit for a while now. I may just have to jump on this one.

Ditto - should get one now, before it's too late.
With my luck, I'd order one and that day - Lars and crazies drink too much
beer, leave a vette in gear and ... well ... it wouldn't be a BAD way to go.
Either that - or they sell out and Lars gets too old to form the counter weights by hand.

Lars,
Winter can be fun. And besides, I really do not have much choice on the matter! A good skate or day of skiing, light the fireplace and relax with some gluevine and dream of the Corvette season coming. Very nice.
Spiced Gluevine
(Mulled Wine)
Recipe
Ingredients
2 cups water
1 - 1 ½ cups of white sugar
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
4 cinnamon sticks
18 whole allspice berries
18 whole cloves
1 lemon - rind
2 bottles dry red wine.
Method
Combine water sugar and spices.
Heat until sugar is dissolved. Add lemon rind and simmer 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand covered for 30 minutes.
Strain syrup through sieve. Add wine. Cover over low heat for 2 hours.
Serves 24 at 4 - 5 ounces each.

Its an interesting Idea to re-curve the dist.
Would it make much difference on a stock L-48? Or wait untill I have mods?

Bryan -
Great to hear the parts are working well for you and that you're still smiling - fun is what this is all about...! Keep up the fun..!!
NHVette -
The kits are usually built while significantly under the influence of good beer and good Vette friends - The CCC provides both aspects of the Hobby to everyone who stops by for some tuning and tweaking. The local cops know who and where we are, so we tend to keep things only slightly over edge, but always safe... we haven't had to break into the First Aid Kit yet, so chances are good that we'll be here for a while!

Paul -
Thanks for the recipe - as soon as it cools down below 40 degrees out here we'll gather the CCC and mix up a batch in your honor and give a toast to our Canadian fellow enthusiasts!!
Flood -
Like TNT says, the biggest improvement is actually made on fairly stock engines - the stock ones have the biggest room for improvement due to the very conservative stock advance curve that was made necessary by the emissions requirements of the time. But basically, any time you can add precision and/or optimization to any aspect of your engine's operation, you will gain something. How much you gain depends on how far off of optimum things are to start with.

Re: Sorry Lars. The Re-curve Kit... (paul79)
Lar's recurve kit works just fine in an L48 and it will surprise you.
I've had mine for two seasons and it runs quite well. There was a
noticible difference after installation in acceleration and it just starts
better. Hey Paul do you really get to drive vette in April? From here
in Michigan we always get your cold weather I thot it snowed all
year long in Canada and you only got to drive your car back
and forth in the driveway. Steve

I appreciate your humour. And it is not far off the mark! April and May are too cold. June is fine. July is too hot . August is too wet. September "can" be OK. And October is storage time. Canadian Vettes have lowwww mileage ;) .
