Finally!! The NEW largest handling tire on the planet.
Many of you know I've been waiting for an upgrade to my "small" 345's. I've been talking about these for quite a while now. Look what Pirelli has. I had hoped it would be a 375, but 355/ 25 will definitely work. I guess that means that now I have no choice but to go roast the 345's off & shoot video, huh? :D

lets see some rubber fly!
Steve, have you thought of having custom rubber made? it seems like a tire CO. as big as firestone, goodyear, pirelli, nitto, hoosier etc would be able to accomadate you.

i just thought about it, you could set cruise control at 3000 rpm, and with a line lock you could get out of the car and check it out yourself! i bet you could roast the hell out of those at 2000rpm once its tuned.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a video of you wasting those tires but aren't the one's you've got pretty expensive? Why not just sell them to someone who needs them and get the new ones?
OK, let the bashing begin. :smash:
BTW, I'm glad you are back Steve and that you are trying to keep Merlin (at least for now ;)).

I really don't think that 10mm wider will really matter! But then again I thought that after my dunlop 315's arrived i should have bought the 325's.
The problem with ordering from places like the TireRack is you can't see the tire ahead of time. Here we get less than 10 inches of rain a year so Dunlop SP8000's have a monster rain groove in the middle. If you ask me it's 3/4 of and inch less rubber on the road. So wider is not always better. :seeya

355mm? :nono: Merlin, while wide butt tires may look cool, they is no simple relation between tire width and handling. Tires can be too wide. Have you consider what happens to the scrub radius? Steering effort? Tracking? Increased contact patch area reduces pressure and changes the scrub rate and slip angle effects. Also, the increase in rotating and unsprung weight becomes a factor; however I imagine those wheels are still pretty light.

I really wish I lived in Washington!!!!
Aren't you running 6" backspace on the rear? Been too long and I've slept since the early series.
