Who can ID my rear end?????
I have found, I think, that my rear axle is not original. I have a 1968 model but the code on the axle is AM with these numbers stamped on the bottom. 11 24 64. Is that the assembly date? Is it a 65 model year axle? Ratio?
Thanks

If you get in front of one of those full length mirrors and turn your body half way around you should be able to ID your own rear end. :lolg:
Sorry, you were probably hoping someone with some real intelligence would respond...as I'm sure they will.

a 68 vette with a 65 differential? it could have any old gears in there! perhaps the easiest way short of disassembly, is to jack it up put a chalk line on the driveshaft and one on the tire, give the tire a spin and count the revolutions of the driveshaft.

Actually I know the ratio it a 3.35 posi. What I want to know is if that date means its a 65 model part??????? If not what do I look for to identify the year.

The AM is for 3.36 It should be like AM0621W where 06 = June and 21 = 21st day.. Find that and match to other numbers for full year. Both 1965 and 1968 used the same code....
