Merlin Dyno Videos
Just wanted to thank Frodo err.. I mean Steve (Theansweris42) for hosting these! Actually, you guys should thank him - I've already seen them!
http://home.eckerd.edu/~bordelsr/
The boost one was taken on an older crappy camera that we had focused in on the guage. We needed to get a baseline for where we were with the 4" pulleys.
Cruising2 is another "boring" video of us driving the car over to the dyno. No trailer queens here! It's still sputtering & not running right, but we're getting the cooling issues taken care of. My friend tried to get better footage for you all by holding the camera up. As you can tell, the penalty was crappy sound as the wind hit the mike!
Dyno 2 was our second run. The car was running so rich that we flamed through 600 degree aircraft quality tubing. You can see the tubes flailing around at the end. That is because the exhaust from the car had collapsed the rigidity & was sucking the life out of them! Not good...
Dyno3 is by far the best video. We got it leaned up a little. It still wasn't running 100%, but as you can tell from my reaction it felt the best of all the runs. This was at 3/4 throttle with arcing spark plugs & about 13 psi boost. We were turning 900 pounds of torque in the 3,000 rpm range. Scary. When we get this thing tuned up & drop some real boost in there, you guys are going to see some of the craziest numbers ever recorded in a streetable C3. I'm looking forward to pegging the dyno!
FirstPlay is the splash screen a friend of mine made for the DVD. Once we get some better footage, I will make a production DVD to distribute.
SettingUpTheDyno is me being a goofball & trying to back the thing up. Please note that the dyno test is done 10 feet in the air. Very scary sensation with this much power when you are staring at the garage ceiling...

the "boring" cruise video is still pretty crazy, i'd love to see u drag that thing. Have you considered stickier tires? you'll have a bitch of a time ever controlling that thing at more than like 20% throttle at ANY speed.
Great car, its been fun watching it progress.

Lots of bumps on the cruise! Starting to rethink my no-bump challenge. Maybe I could fab you up a camera mount instead. (Too bad metal working isn't my thing...)
Still, taking such a challenge would probably be worth a ride in the beast...
Please hold on to the thing till at least summer time, maybe I'll be able to make a trip up. Any idea how much a plane flight is to/from? I live in SJ, by SJO.
Absolutely love the sounds in firstplay.wmv ... btw, what camcorder are you using? 3-ccd?

Kepp the vids coming! That was a great vid. I did enjoy that crusin' vid more because of the birds eye view. how you could see the refelection of the trees on the paint and the blowers. very cool. couple of questions though. i think its just the dyno, but what was the sound that was like a metal grinder? im assuming its just the dyno slowing down. and im assuming its a bug but why is your parking brake light always on? is there an open in the wiring? awesome vids Steve, i especially like how you set off the car alarms 25ft away.

Cool videos!
Let me know if you still need someone to host a mirror site. I've got 30mb of space and 16,000mb per month of unused transfer capacity.

Re: Merlin Dyno Videos (Gotta Fix my '76)
"Boring" video? You have to remember that most people on other boards don't like vettes.
Awsome vids. Glad they keep comming. The dyno is impressive and the car looks great from the side profile.

Mr. Steve,
I really enjoyed watching the videos. It's truly amazing that she (Merlin) is so calm and cool on the street. 1200 h.p. and you can cruise around and just enjoy the sound. My C3 is a BB Beast also, and I think she (my 75) has a crush on yours  , wait! that would make them lezbians!! Never mind I'm sure you get the picture, and no I'm not prejudice twords different peoples lifestyles so don't go there. Anyway, you seem to be right at home while driving Merlin. You don't look to big for the car infact my girlfriend said you look pretty cool driving Merlin around. I showed some of my friends, All the guys and gals at Finish Line Speed Shop in Orlando, and we don't think you will break any IRS parts as long as you do your dyno runs with the street tires. They will spin before you break something. We are all cheering for you here in O town. "Don't sell it, it looks like your with your best friend when your driving it. Good luck with the future testing. Oh yea, I had to make a comment about some of the b.s. on LS1-com. :troll s and loosers make stupid comments and those people need to go home and build there own sheot and then bring it on!!! :auto: I'm not saying there all bad, because some of the F-body folks are  , but the bottom line is Merlin is the top dog and the True Street Car Champion
This is Joe, signing off from the east coast. :seeya

I absolutely love your car Steve. I was watching all that last night and just about flipped out with how loud and how long the dyno pull lasted. Very

Re: Merlin Dyno Videos (QuickVet)
here is a question. I thought that you were supposed to dyno a car in the 1:1 gear and not the overdrive gear. looks like in the video you are in 5th gear. Isnt that the first overdrive gear?
