anyone know what the ohms rating was on the std radio in the 69-72 vette, any other specs on the speakers? thanks. :confused:

10 ohms was standard for most GM radios of that era.

Yeah, 10 Ohms. I just pulled my front speakers out about a half hour ago. There's a bunch of numbers on the back of the speaker, but 10 Ohms is the only thing that's useful unless you need part numbers. Do you need a pair of original 1970 speakers? I can check to see if they work if you want. They weren't hooked up before.

scooter70, not looking for original matching stuff, my pass speaker just quit, what do you want for the pair if they are working ok?

You can get an upgraded replacement speaker of your choice in the correct size at any audio shop and add a resistor. You may even find an 8 ohm speaker that will work fine. 68-69 kick panel mounted speakers are 4 X 10. Under dash speakers used from 70 on are 4 X 6.
