Re: OIL PAN REMOVAL (spica 7)
It may very well be. I've pulled the pan off many motors in lots of cars but not Vettes. What I **can** tell you from decades of experience is this: sometimes things are possible to do, but by the time you accomplish what you set out to do, it would have been easier to pull the engine.
So repeat after me:
1:) Remove Hood
2:) Floor Jack the Transmission
3:) Remove Engine

I replaced the oil pan on my 77 with little difficulty...no engine jacking or other extream hijinks were necessary, I believe the steering ram had to be loosened though. Wish ya success.... :seeya

Re: OIL PAN REMOVAL (spica 7)
I was able to drop the pan by removing the idler arm mounting bolts to the frame. This allowed me to drop the drag link down enough where the pan could come out.
I have a '69 w/o PS.

I replaced the oil pan gasket on my '79 with Power Steering last summer and it was the easiest pan I had ever taken off. Just had to drop the steering rods down out of the way and then it was a clean shot out with nothing else in the way.
