Default 1982 blowermotor stops blowing.....

It makes sense....things like that only stops in the winter, when you need them most. :smash:

Anyone knows wich fue it uses, and anyone knows where I can find the motor? (I seem to remember it's under the right front fender?)

Is it any easy to remove and check?
Any wires I can check when it's in the car that should have power on them??

They expect snow and ice here later this week, would be real handy to have it working again by then..... :cry

Any help is welcome...... :yesnod:

Hey Piet :)

I think it's the ctsy-clk (courtesy light / clock) clock one but it may also be defog or AC

The blower itself is a PITA to reach. I'd check if the purple lead hasn't fallen
off first, stick your head under the pass. side wheel well and look up.

The purple wire comes from the resistor bridge. The resistor bridge is screwed into the top of the heater box. It has 3 springs( resistors) on it, there's a connector on top (the thig looks like the inside of a bread toaster :) )
The purple wire is what powers the motor (w/ the resistor bridge controlling the output sgnal to it and therefore the speed)

To remove the motor you have to take apart the heater box.

For this you need to remove all the bolts, there's one in the pass. side footwell too and it's a PITA to reach.

I don't know about the 82 model, but on other C-3's I have looked at you could easily remove the blower motor without tearing into the heater box. There are 7 small sheet metal self tapping bolts that hold the blower motor and fan to the heater/AC case. You can remove those bolts and drop the motor and fan down until it is resting on the underbody splash gaurd that fits between the body and the frame. Remove this splash shield and the motor will drop right out.
If your gills are removable then it is even easier, just remove the gills and pull the motor out. These motors are still available from GM dealers parts catalogs, and run about $50-60 in the U.S. Cheaper ones can be bought from parts stores here in the US.

Oh yeah, totally forgot :) you can get to it that way too  That's what you get when you tear the entire thing apart, there's alternate routes to getting to stuff ;)

The bolts are visible here http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/twinnie/blower1.jpg

OK....problem solved!

I spent the last 15 minutes head down under my dash.....removed all fuses (AC,Defogger,Courtesy) and put new ones in....motor started blowing for a second....thats good, now I know motor is OK. :)

Removed AC fuse (thats the one the motor reacted to) and cleaned the fuse box with contact/electrical cleaning spray...(it's all over my keyboard now as well..... )

Motor blows again!!

Thanks for the quick help....I have to say my fuse box is a bit different in lay-out,but I never thought about the AC fuse.....stupidstupidstupid.....

Let the snow come!

Nothing beats a Corvette like a daily driver....in a year, you remove, touch or at least see every single piece of the car...... :D

Don't know if this is true or not, but I read in a "BBC Swap Kit" that I bought, that the C4 blower can be put into the C3 and would be an upgrade?!?!?!?!

It's different? That's weird the pic is 82 Corvette specific (see the 2 injector fuses)
