Yes you do need those on aftermarket springs. They keep the leaves aligned. The original had "H" shaped plastic liners that did that. PLEASE go to http://www.ncrs.org and research the rear sping installation in the archives BEFORE you try installing the new spring so you don't snap the ears off of the diff cover. That is a common thing to have happen.
