Default help me figure out noise

i have a constant ticking/rattle somewhere around the fan and smog pump. no visible belt problems or loose stuff. vacuum pressure normal. any ideas? :confused:

Could it be the fan-clutch? Not sure how to check it, but I read in another post where a forum member removed his belts, started the car and the noise went away.

Also, I noticed, before I removed the belt, that my A/C compressor made an annoying rumbling/clicking noise. Do you have A/C? Remove the belt and fire her up!

Take the belt off the smog pump and try. They can develop bad end bearings.

In fact afterwards you can take the belts off the other accessories one by one, and figure it out. Let us know! :lurk: :flag
