Where can I get some heavy duty U-joints?????
I'll adding a 470hp 383 to vette this summer, and want to replace the U-joints with heavy duty ones also. I've been looking in Jeg's, Summit, corvette catalogs, supporting vendor's websites, but I can find anyone who carries heavy duty U-joints that will hold up with this motor. Any ideas

Ryan77,
Spicer u-joints came on the car originally, they are generally available at truck supply houses.

My local parts store (Robbins) carries the Spicer line.
Call around, you might find 'em closer than you think.

Spicer got bought out by TRW, and when I ordered solid u-joints from TRW, I got federal mogul u-joints. (They screwed up so i got 180 dollars worth of u-joints for 79 dollars :) )

Im using solid non-greasable joints by Brute Force. Got em at Auto Zone for $12 a piece. Over a year now and no problems. I greased them up good with Mobil1 synth grease before installing them. The solid non- greasable ones do not have the hollow channels to carry grease from the zerk. This solid design is said to make them stronger. Whatever joints you decide, make sure to pull all the caps and verify that all the needle bearing are there. More than once I have found missing needle bearings in brand new joints.

Ryan down here we have FleetPride truckpart stores, maybe they're up there too? They carry the Spicer line for about $18 each. These are HD and come pregreased. They have a compression type cap that will snap in place once installed. If you can't find them in MA let me know and I'll check here.

Precision U Joints, which is a commonly distributed brand in most conventional jobber networks (maybe not nationals such as AutoZone, Advance Auto, etc) has HD joints in their catalogue. Like somebody else mentioned, they're not drilled for grease fittings in the middle of the joint.
