Corvette people are pretty cool
In the past week, I have had two things GIVEN to me for my corvette from complete strangers. They were both corvette people of course. The first guy gave me a 9 leaf rear spring, which I needed badly. I went to the guys house to purchase a newly rebuilt rearend which had cover, side yokes, and 4.56 gearing. I needed the side yokes and cover and it was cheaper than buying from the major vendors and having it shipped, so I bought the entire rearend. He said, if you don't like it bring it back for a full refund and let me know if there is anything else you need. I said "A spring" and he ran inside and got one and brought it back out and gave it to me. I said how much? He said, "I've got plenty, you can have it". Saved me probably $150.
A guy yesterday came by while my car was in the exhaust shop and was looking at my car and said he used to have a 68. We were chatting and I noticed that my passenger side rear caliper was leaking and dripping fluid onto the tire. The guy said "I think I have some calipers if you want them" and he took off. About 5 min later, he came back with 4 calipers in a box complete with brake lines and new brake pads. I asked him how much and he said he just wanted to get rid of them and I could have them. I turned around to answer a question from the exhaust guy and the other guy was gone when I turned back around. How cool!!

I agree!
I have a friend who is into mid-50's Pontiacs. When he heard that I had purchased a Corvette, he told me how disappointed he was. "Corvette people are plastic just like their cars" he told me.
Well, the forum could not be more of a counterexample of his statement. The help and advice on this forum is nothing short of a family.
I have met Vette people who are pretty infatuated by the fact that they own one, but you find that in any circle of interests.
Drive on Corvette people and remember to wave!

Muscle car guys are generally the nices guys (EDIT***PEOPLE****Woman love em too) you will meet and will give you what ever they can spare. I think we have been in a position that we needed help and when the tables are turned I bet everyone of us will lend a helping hand.

You mean people from Hawai that drive vettes are :cool: That would never happen around here. Especially since most of the drag nights are now filled with ricers!!!!!!!!!! :cuss

Earlier in my rebuild, a forum member, gave me a power steering pump reservoir to replace mine. Then later a local corvette guy helped me out by swapping a manual pitman arm for a power steering pitman arm. Plus he gave me a 1970 Tennessee tag for my vette. :cool:

I've met a TON of really nice folks with Vettes. So eager to share and help each other, it's really quite awesome! Me thinkth it goes hand and hand with the "wave".

I have a friend here on the Island who loaned me his BFG Drag Radials, helped me practice burnouts, takes pictures of my cars and post them to the forum because I'm too stupid to post pictures, comes to the track....without his car, to watch me try to get into the 11's, was the only one there to see car break into the 11's.......My other friend lives in Fairport NY.....He sent his 750 Edelbrock carb....to Hawai for a vacation. Post pictures of my cars to the forum because I'm too stupid to figure out how you guys do that.....Corvette people are cool :iagree: :cheers: Cappy
