Default Spall install this weekend...which thermostat?

Gonna install the Spals this weekend (if the UPS website tracking is right and they are delivered today). Was thinking about changing the coolant and thermostat during the install. Which temp thermostat should I use with the Spals? I'm getting the standard 195* Spal thermo switch.

I ordered the same setup this week and I plan to use a 185 degree thermostat. It make sense to me to have it in the middle of the fan thermoswitch range. I would be interested in hearing other theories. Perhaps Tom Dewitt would share his experiences and have a better recommendation.

I was thinking it might be better to have the thermostat opening below the fan cut-off point. That way, the thermostat never closes. It will be interesting to hear other viewpoints.

I use a Robert Shaw high flow thermostat, 180 degrees. The fans turn on and off when sitting or in town traffic. On the highway, they never come on. I was using a cheapo generic Stant and it restricted flow enough that the coolant never got cool enough for the fans to shut off once they came on.

Cost me about $10 at AutoZone.

I just emailed Tom and he recommends a 180.

I got the 185 for mine. But, the weather is so cold here, I can't get a good feel for the on and off times. But, she is staying WAYYYYYY COOOOOL.
