Looking for opinions on a Holley 3310S carb.
The Edelbrock 1904 has been a good carb for 120,000 miles now ,and still gets me 15 mpg,but the choke hasn't worked in years. Can you believe as cold as it's been, the car starts with the choke tied wide open? I'm looking to either rebuild it and modify the choke to a manual,as well as secondary jet and inlet seat changes,or replace it. Summit has the 3310S Holley for around $250. which is way less than I paid for the Edelbrock carb.Just wondering if there's a REASON the carb is so cheap. For $50. I could rebuild the Edelbrock, but I'd still have to rig up a manual choke somehow. Suggestions anyone? :smash:

Aren't 1900 series Edelbrocks spread bores? If so, you will need to replace your RPM intake with a square bore version to use the 3310. You will also need to change your fuel feed as the 3310 is a dual feed. The 3310 is a good and very flexible carb and is available with or without an electric choke. The 3310's are priced competively with Edelbrock square bore's but, as you noticed, the 1900 series Edelbrocks are much more expensive than either. Both Holley and Demon have higher performance vacuum secondary carbs but at prices closer to your 1904.

Here's a pic of my 3310 with a Proform main body. I liked the 3310, vac sec and manual choke. It started right up outa the box and required nothing more than a slight idle adjustment. I added the Proform body for a nicer look and to get rid of the choke & choke tower.
