These guys are haveing a Brake kit challange. If you can comeup with a car they don't have a brake kit for they will make a kit AND give you 10% off!

They do make hits for C2's C4's and C5's,but amazingly no C3

No surprise there. But at $1100(63-64 prices) for only 2 tires plus the cost to upgrade any of it, then double that for the rear tires I'll pass for a couple more Januarys.

I sent them mail asking about Wilwood Superlite III's and one inch larger rotors for the front.

Really fast answer to my e-mail - I also sent a picture along I wish that I had known sooner because I just put on 4 new O-Ringed super duty stock type calipers and 2 new rotors within the last 1 1/2 years for over $700

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw your web page about the January challenge on Corvette Forum. My car is a 79 Vette with 17 inch wheels. Do you have a kit with Calipers like Superlite III and maybe 1 inch over stock diameter rotors?

Hello,

Nice car. We do have a 13" kit to fit the 79 Vette. This kit includes 13"
cross-drilled or slotted rotors, Wilwood Superlite 4 piston calipers
(Superlite III is an optional upgrade), Wilwood D compound pads, stainless
steel braided teflon flex hoses, mounting brackets and grade 8 mounting
hardware. The cost on this kit is $1099 or $1269 with the Superlite III
caliper.

Let me know if you are interested. Also, if you have a fax # I can fax over
a template to check wheel fitment.

Thanks,

George, thanks for the info. I assume this is just for the front. Any suggestions for the back?
thanks

Thats not a bad price if you go around and price all the components, plus they did the brackets too. It is a lot of money tho.

For the back, I think the Wilwood Dynalites are more than adequate. You don't need much in the back to get them balanced with the front. Thats about another $350, not including rotors.

Super light 6's and small piston Dynalites are a perfect match.
They keep the front / rear bais about perfect.

You'd want to go with a smaller master clyinder, like a manual one from a '69.

Here's a link to Heidts, they make a bracket for the rears...$110

Terry

My rears always lock first with my present tire setup and nearly 50/50 weight distribution. Which is suprizing with sticky 315/35/17 rear tires. I did that post on weighing my car on the certified scales. I did total weight with me in the car and then front and rear with me in and out of the car. I didn't think about it till after I drove away that I should have ask to do side by side also.

So i would go with big brakes and rotors on the front and see how it does with the stock rear sets or even 427V8's kit with the small wilwoods in the rear

Thanks Gkull for the info! I wonder if they'd make a Brembo kit for C3?

I love HUGE disks and calipers. Nothing screems speed nowdays more than a set of massive 14 or 15" rotors sitting inside 17/18 in spoked wheels. 6 or 8 piston callipers. Big $$ but worth it. Not that we would ever need this sort of braking ability but hey i dont need 400+ horsepower either. :jester
