More first time buyer questions.
Sorry if this is a stupid newbie question but here goes. I am going to look at the 78 tomorrow. I know how to look for rust and bondo on metal but what am I looking for on the fiberglass? Could the fiberglass be in bad shape but look OK? Any tricks to checking the condition of the body or is it straight-forward? Also, where will the vin be on the engine to confirm it is a numbers matching car? Thanks again for the help.

If your looking at ANY C-3 just like silver said, Look at the frame right in front of the rear wheels and at the window frames and floorpan if possible. You can't over emphasize the importance of checking out the frame for rust. The body you can look for overall strightness and panel smoothness, but most of the C-3's had poor fit and finish when it comes to how the hood and doors fit. you want to look for the unusal and odd lines and finishes. It doesn't hurt to have a body man look it over, but you need someone who knows Corvettes. The most important thing with these years cars is serious rust problems. :chevy
