Starting in January 1972, Corvettes had a "butt on the seat swtich" that turned on your seat belt buzzer. This switch was set in the springs so that any compression of the spring would turn it on. Is yours connected? If not, removing the seat takes only a few minutes and should be a breeze to figure out.

The seat is out the wires were under the carpet unseen for many years I guess. The seat is in the shop I'll have to go and look for the switch. Thanks

In 74, there was also a system that would not let you start the car unless the seatbelts were fasten. The system senced if the belts were connected and went to a relay on the passenger side of the firewall next to the distributor. The relay had a little red button that allowed you to override the system. Hopefully you have disconected this system, as it could be a real pain.
