Firestone SS20's? Pics?
I've read a lot of the older posts on tires here but thought I would ask anyway. Need to get new tires in the not too distant future. Have 255/60R15's on my '78 right now and am replacing with the same sizes. Thinking of the Firestone SS20's but was curious for opinions. Lots of people like the BFGoodrich Radial T/A's. Was thinking of Goodyears, too, but after reading some peoples' opinions many said they don't handle very well on anything remotely wet. I have Goodyears on it now and I have little to no traction in anything wet and there is still tread on them, not bald. Opinions on the SS20's? And does anyone have pics of the Firestones on their vette, that would be great to see. Thanks.

Firestone doesn't produce the SS20's anymore. They have been replaced by the Indy 500 tire...

Olivier, i am truly going to miss see pictures of your Duntov....
Sorry for you loss.
I have the BF Goodrich, 255's on my 82. I will tell you that so far they have been a good tire, but they sure are wearing down fast. When I have to replace them, I will be looking for something else.

I also use BFG 255's on my 68'....Very good tires...However - the lettering on the Firestones is

Any opinions on the Indy 500's? Haven't heard much about them from people. Anyone have pics of those?

I have them on mine. Great looking rubber

Only problem is they are S rated so poor cornering with a heavy car. Sure do look
 though!

Look cool, yes, but handle like an explicative. Honestly, in 255-60 series, pick whatever looks nice and go with it. There's little to do but that. I think the BF Goodrich Radial T/As handle marginally better than the Indy 500s. See sig for pic of the Indy 500s, they are the exact same tire as the SS20s, just have different lettering on the side.
