I'm in the 20 club but this is on back roads. Not quite city but not quite highway. This spring I intend to more thoroughly test/document this.
Mind if I get back to you then with the results?

I haven't done a true check of pure highway driving with my car, but on one 240 mile roadtrip, 75% highway, 25% in town driving, highway speeds 70-80 mph, I got 18.1 mpg. This is including a couple of runs up to 100 mph +. This is with a ZZ4 crate engine, Holley carb, TH400, and 3.08 rearend. I might do a 100 mile non-stop run on a 70 mph highway just to see what kind of true highway mileage I get, I bet it is better than 20 mpg.

The previous owner said he got 20mpg pure highway. I've never seen it though. I do consistantly get 17 doing mixed driving. The car is mostly stock, including 3.08 gears. Relavant mods include, comp 268H cam, Edelbrock performer intake, headers with 2/1/2 exhaust with cat, and flex-a-lite fans.

My 74r has 700r4 with 3.08 behind a strong 383.....does it easily on the highway cruising at 70 to 75mph....last saturday on a cruise did 196 miles and took 40.1 litres to fill.....that works out to 22 miles per imperial gallon.....BUT,won't do anything like that around town or hard on it.....this is a 13sec 1/4 mile car and when used hard it really drinks the juice.....the carb is a holley 750 vac sec......john  :chevy

When I got the car it was a stock l48 engine, rebuilt by previous owner, and muncie.....Q jet....ran well, got 12 in mixed bag, 14 maybe on freeway....
added DPFI L98 style...got 24 mpg freeway....19-22 mixed bag around town....
then added hotrod L98 engine, and O/drive 700r4....now get 22 mpg freeway, and 18 mixed bag around town....

I might get 20 if I was at the top of a really big hill and I coasted the whole trip. :steering:

I consistantly get 22mpg @ 70mph on the highway with my 82. I have long tube headers, true dual exhaust w/ Flowmaster mufflers & a Hypertec "Thermomaster" chip. It also has the 2:87 rear gear.

I just recently put myself in the 25+ range. Of course that was after the new motor and transmission. Before I was getting around 10 with the old L46.
