What is this ?
Found this switch under the dash. I don't think it was hooked up when we took everything apart but I still would like to know what it is for.

I remember seeing that on mine when I had the dash apart. I think it has to do with the radio a capacitor or something like that. If I find out different I will post it. Someone else might chime in here also.

What part of the dash is it located in? I'm having a hard time figuring out the pic.

The bracket pictured holds up the top dash pad. You would have to remove the dash to find this switch. Its on the right hand side behind the map pocket.
Thanks,

Re: What is this ? (72vette)
That switch is actually a time delay rely for the seat belt warning dash light. When you turn on the ignition, the relay would light the dash light for approx. 6 seconds, and then the contacts would open and the light would go out. Only 72's had it, and only early 72's had it. My car had it, and I am serial # 456. I am willing to bet you have an early serial number. They switched to a seat sensor and contacts in the seat belt mechanism sometime during the production run. The part is not available, so I went to an electronic parts store and bought a 12 vdc time delay relay to replace it with and make that light in the dash work.

Re: What is this ? (7t2vette)
Thanks for everybodys help. I couldn't find this relay on my wiring diagram and I have a new wiring harness that doesn't seem to have any wires for it.
It was driving me crazy trying to figure out what it was. Our car is serial #2469
Thanks

Funny you should say early 72 Vettes. Mine is #186 an August built car. Now I remember. It is a time delay on the early cars and the later cars had the wiring under the seat and to the seat belts. The little light on the dash goes out after about 20 seconds. Mine works. Thanks for refreshing my memory. Ain't what it used to be. :jester
