Default carb problem

After starting my car, it immediately jumped to a very high idle. I tried going 1 and a 1/2 turns out with the idle screws got nothing, so i turned the screws even more and it didnt have any effect. Does anyone know what the problem may be and how to fix it?
Thanks

The carb is a holley 4175. There is nothing really special about it, other than the fact that it revs really high after the rebuild installation.

Make sure your choke is set correctly and that your not on the high idle step on the choke.

when the engine is warm, the upper choke plate should be fully open. If not, the choke needs to be adjusted.

After it starts, is the choke closed or does it open up part of the way?

Soon as I start it, the choke opens.

If the choke is opening sfter starting that is not the problem. I am not familiar with the Holley, but if it is like the Qudrajet, there is a fast idle screw that controls the fast idle on the pass. side of the carb near the fast idle cam. It sounds llike the problem lies there. I see you mentioned rebuild in your post. Was the carb rebuilt?
