Can you spot any inconsistencies in this Motion/Baldwin model ?
I bought this for myself while Christmas shopping last month. I plan to build
it as close as I can to the way my 70 will be done. Of course the front end will
be different, but I want to get an idea of how it will look when painted.
Anyway - the model is titled Baldwin-Motion '69 Corvette.
I think I spot at least one thing that is not consistent with the title, but I may
be wrong. The side of the box indicates that it is licensed by GM, but anyone
that has bought licensed aftermarket parts will know that is a crap-shoot at best.
So - what is wrong with this picture - besides that fact that the skill level exceeds my limits ?

Side mirrors :yesnod:
Not only are they fiberglass, there are TWO of them.

That's not necessarily wrong.
Passenger side mirrors were a dealer installed option IIRC, and the bullet mirrors have been around a while and B-M used them. If you could get them on just an SS427 I don't know.

While the Motion cars were all pretty much custom - anything goes, I guess.
Good point, Corey - the bullet mirrors look out of place. They WERE used,
however. This was part of the intention of this post - to get me some learnin'.
Anyone else spot something else that's not found on a 69 ??
PS- click the image for more detail (800x600 jpg)

All I can think of is the side pipes. BM cars didn't use the stock pipes like that, did they? I've always seen them with the Hooker style pipes.

I thougt all the M/Bs had sloped rear glass and the paint stripes at the rear spoiler.

For a Baldwin Motion car; The major problem with the model as in the kit is the paint job depicted. The BW car the kit is modeled after has a white butt. The mirrors are correct and side pipes should be Hooker style (I think?).
I have this kit, needed to steal the hood for a '72 model I'm building :D
BTW, the paint is copyrighted!

What I had spotted as strange was the pushbutton door handle.
I thought those were '68 only.
Can anyone explain why this 69 MB vette has 'em ?
Maybe there is a good reason.

Wow, your eyesight is way better than mine. I still can't see if the locks are push button or not. So I guess they can't duplicate the paint exactly because it's copywrighted. That sux.

I think that's a 68 BM car. The 69's all didn't have popup headlights IIRC. If you look at the headlights on the car that rainman69 posted, you'll see the difference.
The model looks damn close to bamavette's 68 BM.

Do I see a missing windshield wiper door? Also are those the correct rims?

The rims look close to the ones pictured in rainmans reply.
I just went to the http://www.revell-monogram.com website.
Searching for all Corvettes - shows that they have a 68 M-B vette.
NO 69. Hmmm ... maybe someone gave them some feedback and they corrected the erroneous title on the box ?
What about front directional lights ? Yellow or white lenses for 68/69 ?
The model looks to be yellow front directional lenses.

Thanks TT - another tidbit to re-affirm my suspicions that it is a 68.
Although Motion Perf did do a bit of custom gill rework, simply removing the
chrome would not have been likely.

i cant tell from the picture whether the door is pushbutton or not. The keyhole in the 69 is hard to tell from a button from far away. I dont know about B/M cars, but stock the 68s definitely do not have the Stingray badge that appears in the picture, so that argues for a 69.
And the chrome (or stainless or shiny whatever they were) grill inserts were an option in 69, so not every 69 has them. again, not sure what B/M did to their cars. MJ
