G-Teched the Vette (kinda long)
Well I want to start off by saying that this is a stock engine setup on a 1975 Vette. I know they aren't the fastest in the world but I like it just the same.
Alt. 4500ft
A friend of mine that works at a pizza place has a g-tech. They are always running everything with a working cigarette lighter in it. They ran a Ford Winstar and it was something around a 17.3 all the way to a 350 equipped 1974 datsun z that ran a 14 flat.
Most of the time you can drop a second off what cars run and get a rough estimate of a sea level run. New C5's stock run around 14.2 up here.
I ran a 15.9 @ 91.7mph. The cool thing is that I chirped the tires in all 4 gears. lol. It was just about what I expected. If you drop the time 1 second for alt thats a 14.9 or closer to a low 15. Not bad for a stock L-48. I say stock but really all I have done is swapped the 3.08 for a 3.70. So not exactly stock but the engine is. Still has the 2-1-2 exhaust (soon to be replaced by true dual).
I found a performance test on the Corvettearchive site. It lists an L-48 auto that ran a 16.1@87.4 mph. I would assume that is close to sea level. So my manual with a gear change would be about 1 second faster ! :yesnod: Im actually ok with my time then. Of course now I have a baseline of what to start with and when I do mods I can retest.

Re: G-Teched the Vette (SuperFast80)
the way i tested mine was i raced a friend with a Mustang GT. im at 5200ft and new stang GTs run mid 15s here. so we took into consideration his exaust and cold-air intake and guessed he is aroound a low 15. well if we would have had equal starts we would have been dead even. i won a couple he won a couple. so i figgure im in the low 15s here which puts me at high 13s or low 14s sea level. but once i get the turbo and heads on, all bets are off.... :smash: :D
