Need advice on crate engine and transmission alternates.
I have a '68 327/350 4-spd. Stock rearend was 3:36 and I changed it last year to 4:11. Thinking about putting a high horse small block crate engine in this. With high rpm on 4:11 is there a 6-spd that would drop in the '68 w/o a lot of fuss so I could take advantage of an overdrive gear in 6th and get highway cruising rpm back down? I would appreciate suggestions and alternates and what all must be done. I did the whole bottom side (suspension, brakes, etc. ) myself but I'll probably have to pay someone for these mods.

The ROD 6 will work wonders for you. You did not say what tires & wheels you run. With the std. 3.27 1st and .76 OD, you would have 13.44 multiplication in 1st gear and cruise at 70 at 2700rpm with P225/70R15's.
You may want to rethink the rear ratio to perhaps the 3.36 or 3.08. The 3.08 will give you 10.07 multiplication in 1st and cruise at 2008 revs. I've driven this combination with the Richmond 5spd, and will use the Dana 44 3.07 and same gears in the gearbox for the new 6-spd. If you are running more than 350 HP, it's more than enough to spin the wheels in the first three gears, with perhaps a tweak in a power shifted 4th.

Thanks. I kept the 3:36 just in case. I'm running 255/60R15 on rear and 235/60's on front. I have the F70/15 red lines mounted on the original Rally wheels for shows but I got tired of driving on them.
