New Front Springs installed (550 lb-in)
First thing I noticed was DAMN, the front end feels tighter. The car darts left to right faster than all heck.
However, the ride height does not seem all that much lower than the springs I pulled out. (They look like aftermarket 460s, were about half an inch longer than the 550s that were on the car.) Could it be that the new springs aren't settled? We made sure to put the side w/ the tape down, and to fit the spring into the groove.
Other than that, am very happy. Car handles well, all we need now is to install the 360# rear spring!

Also, special thanks to Tom Woehr for the help! I couldn't have done it without him. He was a true grease monkey today, greased every ball joint and rod end. :) That might also account for some added dartiness in the system. Slop is definitely gone now! Shocks and springs await.

That sounds great I am getting ready to install the same setup in mine but with the VB&P Grand Touring plus suspension package. Glad to here you like the spring rates.

Sounds cool. It's nice to notice a difference when you make a change. I'm in the process of changing springs as well but with a bit of a difference in the form of coil-overs. Pictures comming soon.

I would be interested in pictures and a description. This has always appealed to me, especially for the back.

I have the 550's in my car too along with the adjustable rate rear spring. Even with the big block I only lost about half an inch in ride height at the most when I changed over from the origional springs.
The uncompressed height of the spring dosent really give a good indication of how much your ride height will change unless of course its being compared to a spring of the same spring rate.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I changed out my front and rear with the same set up, plue PST poly bushing all around and a set of KYB's for shock last year. Don't know what it feels like yet, still have the body off and doing engine work. :banghead:

Stay tuned Norval, I should have some pictures this evening or tomorrow morning. They are front semi coil-overs. I am also interested in rear coil-overs. If only I have time to work on that. Maybe in the next few months (most likely it will be fall before I could get to that).

I must say that I couldn´t drive the car because as you know I´m doing a body off resto.
After installing them I could put my head between the fender and the tire!!
:skep:
Now it´s only about 3 inches.
The body is colpletely emptly, so the front end will come down again when I install the rest of the car (Seats, doors, Masterbrakecylinder, hood,......)
