Default Build sheet & RPO codes

I am helping a friend with his 82, and we were trying to find the build sheet location and the RPO codes. My C4 has a big sticker in the LHS storage bin that lists all the RPO codes and the build sheet's are stuck to the fuel tank and tucked away in the front crossmember, but we can't find his anywhere. He tried to get the records from GM but since his cars records were in the group that was lost in a flood/fire or something we are at a standstill. Can someone point us in the right direction. TIA &

I have heard that they can also sometimes be found in trailing arms.

I think to get this info get in contact with George Zapora at GM Canada.....Vintage. I received all the info on my 1980. It has all the rpo's that your my was equipped with, as well as how many were imported to Canada, as well as the GM dealership that sold it new....$40.00

Thanks, but this is a US spec car, brought up from Florida in 85 so I don't know if GM Canada can help us this time. (Actually, I used GM Canada for info on my car and they were very helpful.)
I guess that, aside from the trailing arms, there is no other place that GM stashed the build sheet or put a sticker telling what the RPO's were. That sucks, how do you check things out then.

It's an 82... You can get a copy from Bowling Green. Check with the National Corvette Museum.

Same story, the records for his VIN were "distroyed" by fire or flood so the NCM can't provide us with any info. So, is there a location on the car (like my 85) where the RPO codes are listed, and is there a hiding place, other than the rear trailing arm, for the build sheet. My 1970 Chrysler had the build sheet hidden under the rear seat between the springs and pad. Thanks again.

Other than the build sheet, the RPO codes are not anywhere on the car. If it's not on the gas tank I think you might be out of luck. Some have found build sheets stuffed up under the dash in the speedo/tack area and under the seats. This would be a long shot at best. If you can list all of the options you are sure the car came with, some of us here on the Forum might be able to help you with the codes that go with them.

The National Corvette Museum offer build sheet service for all Vettes built in BG...They're known to have been found on top of tank...don't know if you looked there. The problem is once found...difficult to retrieve from the tank.

Don't know if this will help you or not, but I have used this website for my 1980 RPO Codes.

http://hometown.aol.com/thecorvetteplace/index.html

Just select your year, and then it will take you to the RPO page.

Ok, so if we remove the spare tire and the fuel filler surround, do you think we will we be able to see it (if its still there) and maybe, hopefully read some of it. I can see mine glued to the tank, but its so close to the bodywork that I couldn't even get a mirror in to read it.
The only things that stand out right now are that it "doesn't" have a power antenna, its an automatic, and the colour is the rare "silver-green" w/ matching interior. Otherwise everything else seems normal, electric locks, power windows, cruise control, etc.

I had to take my tank completely down and out from under the car to get to my build sheet. I also had to carefully scrap the sheet with a razor blade to remove it from the tank. Then I laminated it onto a card board sheet for years of use.

Oh well, it was worth a try. There's no way we're pulling the tank, so I guess the RPO's will remain a mystery. Maybe some day another copy of those records will surface. Thanks for the help.
