easy tip to get heat fast
i found that the thermostat in both my vettes fit way too loose, allowing coolant to sneak around it and delay warmup. on a cold day like today(40 degrees) they would take 5-7 miles :cry now it is just 1-2 miles to reach 180 :yesnod:
the recess in the manifold was too deep. i used some wire to fill in the gap and sealed it with JB weld.
other notes
1. don't use single O ring neck(2 O rings needed)
2. don't use stat with extra holes
.
sorry, due to a CF webtv problem i cant reply :steering:

Re: easy tip to get heat fast (Matt Gruber)
Thanks for the info matt. In central Fla., are you sure you know what cold really is? It got down to 8 here in md the other night. Now thats cold. I found a neat little block heater made by Wolverine. Its a small pad that has adheasive on the back and sticks to the bottom of the oil pan. its just 50watts and you plug it in to the wall. As the oil is warmed the heat rises up thru the crankcase. Helps alot on cold starts and warmups.
