Default Is the forum biased?

Im starting to get sick of C5s. i clicked on the Daytona pic link on the main page, and not a single c1-c3. mostly C5s with 3 or 4 C4s. none of them were that special either. i didnt see icemans or any recgonizable C5s. i still love the ones that stand out, like Mr Klns. and this isnt a pot shot at you guys with C5s because you still show off your C3s. im just getting tired of seeing C5s left and right. and the COTW wasnt that special last time i checked. it was just a polo green C4. i would think that someone with a less common vette would have entered.
oh well i guess im just 1/2 ranting. i love C5s, but its kind of like hearing a really good song on the radio over and over again. pretty soon you cant stand it.

No, but there are a lot of C5s around these days. I tend to forget about my C5 sometimes, because my C3 is so much more fun. :)

I was thinking the very same thing when I was checking out the pics.
Its the same thing when looking at corvette mags like Corvette central and others. Tons of C5 and C4 stuff but dick all for the C3. It seems we always get the short end of the stick :cuss :bs :banghead:

Yea i can deal with only having 3-4 C3 Vendors and 10-15 C4+ ones, but come on, at least give us some pics of our forum sis's and bros tearing poop up on the strip! if its a matter of no C3s being there thats diffrent.

does it seem like there is actually 2 corvette forums to anyone else? the classics, and the late models? i guess it makes sense though.

hey C3ers with C4/C5s, do you visit the late model sections as much? if so which ones and which do you prefer more? just curious.

I very rarely go to the C5 Forum. Most of the talk there is...........well I better not say, but maybe you get the idea.

I spend a lot of time in the C5 tech section. Lots of good advice for those of us that believe the C5 wasn't completely finished when Chevrolet was done with it ;)

I don't own a C5, but I always check the C5 general board... Someday I want a C5, so I'm trying to learn all I can about them(Already have a list of mods).

I don't think the forum is biased per se, but I wouldn't be surprised if the forum inadvertently caters toward the majority of owners (which would be C4/C5, I'm sure)... :skep:

for sure its a conspiracy to keep the most beautifull corvette ever put to asphalt down....but seriously. My guess is that the C5 is being put out there to continue to attract as many new people to the vete crowd as possible. For example, the are several corvette owners in my P-3 squadron, and although i may get a ton of compliments on my black 77 the ones most of the officers own or desire are C-5s. My department head (an NFO) owns a 94 thats needs a poaint job but is otherwise in superior condition, his dream is a C5. Now he strongly dislikes corvette clubs and all that corvette socializing, but loves the car. I would call this guy a yuppie for the lack of a better term and i would be willing to guess that most people like him(yuppies, that is not NFO's) shy away from the "corvette lifestyle" aspect of ownrship and and maybe putting the C5 out in the forfront sort of pushes for them to join us vette obsessed types. The new MMO (Matainence Material Office) checked in last month and he drives a convertible 50th, and you all should have seen the hoopla it created! The guy was an absolute celebrity and the talk of the squadron for at least two weeks. Yes, his car dispears next to mine( i cant legally park next to him) but thats not the point. So, if he's criusing the vette mags or the vette websites and sees much C5 related crap then he may ...slowly but surely join the dark side! We c3 people are old hat and frankly dont need to be sold intot he vette regime, but these yuppies buying the car really make GM happy and theres a push to do to them what Harley Davidson did so successfully to yuppies in the mid-ninties(bring them into the fold). Think about it, this is maybe only the 1st generation of vette that has young upwardly mobie types choosing the car over forgien sportscars. My department head acctualy favorably compared the C5 to the BMW 5 series in a conversation before he deployed last month ( hows that for your world class corvette!!!!!). So, if by his statment you draw a large conclusion then putting the latest vette in the limelight makes perfect sense. BTW, my XO got his pick-up stolen right in front of his house on base and now drives his black Z06 daily( when not deployed)

I %100 agree. it dosent make sene to me. i understand alot of corvette owners, C1-C5, not being involved in the lifestyle, and therefor making fun of people who are, but not vette nuts dissing vette nuts?

For the Record I want a:
C1 (61-62) as a cruiser. dosent have to be fast, just look good,
C2 (67 427 tripower vert) for a slightly modded street demon, that is mostly a crusier
C2 (63 Split-Window) Those are sweeeeeeeeet!
C3 (Mine) to break the rules. An old car kicking late model **** basically.
C3 (Lasse's) chrome bumpers, stripes, flares, deep 15" wheels :Drools:
C4 (91+) for a daily driver/ smooth ride with guts
C4 (93 ZR1) Duh...
C5 basically something like MrKlns. only i would have ground effects and a front lip.
C5 (Z06) Duh again....

and these are just the vette i think i could realistically own one day. there are so many more vettes i love its borderline disgusting!

And about the C5 being in the lime light, that makes sense. the vette is a performance standard today, and is tough competition in the total package. all the car mags pick it as their favorite, even over sportscars that cost 5 times what it does. and i guess it does attract more yuppies who think anything older than 2000 is a classic

You made your bed... :jester i actually saw a article where they got over 400hp out of a crossfire C4 without screwing with computer or intake. i believe they did an RV cam, ported the heads, and did headers.

I see no difference between the forum and local Vette cruises and shows. C4 and C5 Vettes come out in droves to these events… I couldn’t care less about a car that is readily available at the local dealership, new or used. If C5s were as nostalgic/interesting/rare as say… a new GT-40 then maybe I would understand.

As I see it, a lot of C3 owners won't drive their Vettes long distances. I know...I know...there are exceptions, and I'm one. I drive my 72 all over the country. You won't see a pic of my car at the Daytona event because I simply could not go for work reasons.

Watch for me on Power Tour though, and many other trips / cruises, all year long. :)
