One more time---which ROD do I want?
I asked awhile back about putting a Richmond 6-speed in my 1980 Vette. I believe what I want is the GM 1-1/8" 26 spline transmission.
That is, I think I do NOT want the 10 spline transmission (weaker), and I do not want the "Corvette" transmission (for 4th gen tranny swaps).
In other words, I want part # 836-7021626AA from this page:

Can anyone confirm for me? I gotta get this thing going before I grow old.
Thanks!

I would love to have one of these but $2900 is a lot of mulah. Maybe one of these days when I get it painted and the interior like I want. HMMMM...... I will follow this post and see what comes out of it.

The splines have to match the clutch used in your car, that's it, so if you have the stock 1980 clutch, you need the 26 spline transmission. If you put an aftermarket clutch in, you could install a 10 spline clutch and run the 10 spline tranny, but there's no compelling reason to do it. You definitely don't what the "Corvette" ROD, as it's a replacement for the C4 4+3 tranny.
Your only decision is which of the 3 26 spline RODs is right for you. The only difference is the gear ratios.

Thanks alot Flareside.
I am going with the 3.27 low gear tranny. I would prefer the other one with the taller overdrive, but they cost more for some stange reason.
