Removing sensors - will they break?
I was checking out my oil temperature sensor - it's screwed in above the
oil filter.
Now you would think that with all the oil around there (I nad a valve cover gasket
leaking) that these wouldn't be too bad to take out. Well wrong.
Am I in danger of breaking off the sensor, or are these just really tightly screwed in?
I had the same problemw ith the temperature sensor on the intake manifold. I gave
up and cleanup the wiring, figuring it's better to have fixed wiring rather than
a broken sensor in a screw hole.
Anyone else notice this too?

I don't think they break. I have never had a problem with them. Some are brass and a little soft. What is your fear? And what was the problem with the intake manifold sensor? BTW, it does not belong there. In 1981 the oil pressure sensor is located at the back of the block, near the distributor.

Hi Paul;
>What is my fear?
Breaking off the sensor in half, leaving the rest behind in the hole. I'm probably going
to get the temp sensor and try again to take out the old one. I cleaned up the area
now so at least it looks good...
Oh, I have the pressure sensor in the correct place - I was referring to a previous time
where I wanted to remove the temp sensor in the intake and was afraid of breaking
it too.
Thanks.
