I told him that I thought all '80s came with aluminum manifolds, and he sent me this response:

Is it possible that the 305 California models came with iron intakes?

The "book" says the L48 got an aluminum intake, and engineers did this in order to lower weight on the car.
The black book does not mention the LG4's manifold casting. However, my ASSUMPTION would be that it was aluminum as well.

The_Dude,
In 1980 all engines - L48, L82, and LG4 - came with an aluminum intake, casting # 14014432.

Your absolutely right, it really doesn't matter at all. Ignorant sellers are a dime a dozen. I guess he checked himself because he actually apologized to me and ended the auction (with no bidders).

Of course they were aluminum. That intake does not even have the basics such as a TVS EGR port, tranmission vacuum port, EGR valve port, etc. It looks like something out of a 1976 Impala. But I guess no one bought it. Thank goodness.
