Default Modified or Stock

See Sig. The only other thing I am planning is headers. How would you list it for insurance purposes; modified or stock?

That's a tough call.
The text in the sig doesn't indicate a radical motor - so I'd go 'stock' there.
The picture, however, seems to indicate some customization - i.e. the rims
and the (apparently) astro roof. I gotta get me one of those.

I would say stock - since you probably have the stock roofs and wheels somewhere. Plus - in most people's eyes, the stock vettes are worth more.
That's the real, question - right ? What's it worth ?

Most Insurance companies want to know about the drivetrain and HP ratings. If you have modified the "power" of the car for more aggresive driving, that is what they will be concerned about.

Premium may be a little higher for Modified, but I would have to go with that.

You guys are kidding! For insurance purposes I would definitely stick with stock. Changing the wheels is not a significant deviation from stock. The car still looks basically stock. The engine is still 350 ci, you still have a Qjet... it is more or less the stock configuration. If you had a blower sticking thru the hood you might have to call it modified, but I think you are close enuf to stock to call it stock. MJ

:withstupid: I list mine as stock. You can see the mods in my signature. I think they mean if a blower or major body mods are done. Some ins. companies are a little more picky than others

Guaranteeeeed....there is not an insurance agent claims examiner who knows jack about old cars still in the field...you can lie your axx off and NO one knows about it.....only thing they can tell is if the engine is original or not....SOME of them MAY be able to tell the HP rating of the original engine, and even the replacement engine...according to numbers and apparent configuration.....

NOW, I have been there done that....decades ago...and insured an old '61 Catalina super duty for less than my '60 vette...now the Cat had about twice the hp...and only ~500?? lbs more weight.....plus posi and a whole bunch more mods....of which the serial numbers did not reveal.....

OH yeh...I had the cast iron super duty headers too....looked stock, and in fact on CERTAIN cars were 'stock'.....;-)))

in the insurance industry, things have not changed much....computer be damned...you just have to get 'creative'.....
