I put mine in the mail today, just wondering an average turn around time.

Thanks.

Hey NJ Guys...

What do the QQ plates get you in Jersey (i.e. the Benefits). And what
are the qualifications or restrictions if any... Thanks!

I live here but I'm not up on these plates.

That restriction is very loose on the use. I think if they start seeing the car out on a daily basis they might nab you. I drive mine on occasion and have never been bothered. My plates took about 4 weeks.

For us non NJ folk, what is a QQ plate? Collector, antique or something else.

Ed

QQ plates are for use on any car 25 years or older. (The plates themselves read "ANTIQUE") As posted above, they allow a car to avoid the annual DMV inspection but carry restrictions on the use of the car. (The NJ DMV web site gives all of the details) I got mine about three years ago (it took about three weeks to get them). I have never been (nor do I know of anyone) stopped for using them in an "unauthorized" situation. If I started to use the car more often I would be more concerned with running afoul of my collector car insurance restrictions.
I don't know how long they have been available, but my plate is #20946. In the past three yeears there has been a flood of requests because i have seen plate numbers in the 38000 range.
BTW NJ also issues "Street Rod" plates. I don't know what the qualifications are.

mike

My appologies, I see from Vetfxr's post that they read Historic, not Antique. My car has been under a cover since mid November and I forgot what the plates said. Hell, at my age I'm lucky I remember what I had for breakfast.

I looked into the "street rod" NJ plates a few months ago. The plates are standard car issue, but the registration is "collector" status. It's like the historic (QQ) reg, with a few more restrictions. Every 2 years, you have to provide odometer verification of less than 3000 miles per year driven. There are no other inspections required. You also have to provide proof of "limited use collector insurance" at time of registration. You get a 2 year triangular sticker for your window where the normal inspection sticker used to be.

Sounds like just the ticket for a C4 with no emissions equipment and a big block! :)
