140 MPH speedo?
Does anyone have the 140MPH speedo to replace the bogus 85MPH unit that Redline guage & Clock Repair modifies? Any pros or cons with it? If anybody has a pic of the face that would also be great.
I stopped by Pacific Corvette today and they will do the face plate swap from a 78 for me. They had one on the shelf just in and it looked great,,,,,except of course it had the wrong flags on it. And of course I had to mooch my way into the shop to look at merlin. The pictures do it justice! That thing is so far over the edge it's insane. The workmanship on the car was above average. All that have worked on it should be proud. I still wouldn't want the car, it's really not a sports car anymore. Just the same, I bet it's alot of fun on the straight line though. Thanks Scott.

Re: 140 MPH speedo? (aqua80)
Scott, I have the Redline 140 speedo in my 81, and I love it!!!
This was by far, dollar for dollar, they best thing I ever bought for the Vette.
I don't have pictures, but your right on the face plate. They used the 78 model plate with different cross flags. It might not be stock - but who cares, it looks close enough and you soon get over it.
Redline only charges $57.00 dollars for the complete unit, and your not expected to send in yours until after you recieve and install the new one.
I'm not sure what the other shop was going to charge you, but either way - get one. You won't be sorry.

I also used Redline and was very happy with their product. Actually they use early 1979 faceplate. Late 79 is when GM switched to 85mph speedo.

Re: 140 MPH speedo? (vettedan)
Hey Lou, you know the speedometer always adds horsepower. The way I see it 20 or 30 hp is not out of the question,,,,,like I'll need it. Don't forget I still got you by 33 CU/IN's. You can earn your nickname Lou (looser).
