This is amazing looking Z-Car!
I was milling arround a turbo site (www.turborepair.com) when i found this Z. now i usually dislike these cars alot, and have always thought of them as a sort of wanabe-sports car. well not this one. it looks amazing. i already know my next project car.
heres the link. BTW if your thinking turbo, that shop does great work. http://www.eng.fsu.edu/%7Ejthagard/o...edpassion.html

I've always liked Z cars. Especially the one I saw with a C4 drivetrain. I think it was an LT1, but I don't remember. Could just light the tires while cruising down the highway though. I think you just like that one because it's orange.

My first car was a 70 240z... had 3 dual carb webers... was fast but ate gas...
A smallblock 350 fits perfectly in the car :) I have a book on the conversion somewhere if anyone is interested (its the Jags That Run book)...

"Z"'s are great project cars. I have one in the garage next to the Vette. The V-8 conversation is pretty easy. There are several in the Z Club I belong to. Very quick cars, but the front end is a little heavy. It is pretty easy to get the standard inline 6 up to about 300 hp. Parts are still pretty easy to get, but some interior trim pieces are scarse. I have been looking for two years for a grey door sill. Rust is the biggest problem

goofygrin, i might take you up on that book if you can find it.
i'm considering buying the one in my driveway right now. it belongs to a friend that wanted to see if i could get it running. she doesn't want to spend what it's going to take so she might just sell it to me.
i'm thinking 4.3L and a T-5 for better balance, though. :yesnod:

Re: This is amazing looking Z-Car! (clutchdust)
If you do take that Z up as a project, i want details. ive always loved the 89-97(?) Zs and now the (whatever year the red/orange on is  ) years. i think you may want to aim for a Syclone/Typhoon motor. i know we have talked about it and your not a power freak like me, but rated at something like 270hp, and arround 350hp actual, you cant go wrong with that 4.3L. plus to get more power all you have to do is upgrade the turbo. but im sure i will like it as long as its fast. (13- quarters  )
have you spoke with your friend about buying it?

will, i have to say that the all z and zx cars are best japanese sports car ever imported. the 240, 260, 280, 300"z31" and 300"z32" they have won best import when they came to the states by motor trend and jd powers. i've had two 300zx in the past and own one now, so have the best of both worlds nissan 300zx and 73 corvette. but the vette alot better on streets and fun to drive around. i love the z as much as corvettes so call me ricer if you like

I love those ol' Z's... One of my best College friends had an early 70's 240Z that I drove a lot & my Dad purchased a new 300ZX in '86 that my Mom still owns. But the original 240's are my favorites!

My buddy has a 260z with a 350 in it. The conversion is great but there are a few problems.
It runs a 13.2 at sea level or 14.2 up here at 5000ft. This is running ALOT worse than he used to run. it will keep up and sometimes beat a C5. Its pretty damn fast.
he has gone thru 4 rearends. The rear tires look like this if you were looking from the top of the car /-\ the tires point inwards due to all the torque. You would need to go with a different rearend if you wanted to put any power in it.
The thing is scary fast. Not as fast as the Lt1 w/ supercharger Z car. i wish I had the video of it racing that sport bike. I think the Z took him too.
Its funny to watch a little beat up Datsun take down a C5. I would still rather have the C5 no doubt, but its still funny.
