Rear End... Update 2
Just spoke with Art from Van Steel.. It looks like they will be able to rebuild my rear end in one day... They only charge approx. $200 for labor to remove/re-install the rear end (+ rebuild cost).. The local mechanic around here charges $350 to remove/re-install the rear end.. If the clonk on my rear end will be gone by tomorrow.. I will take Friday off and drive to St. Pete to get my rear end rebuilt.... So - I will be ready to race on Saturday... (and maybe also Sunday) at Bradenton Motorsports Park..... shooting for 11's...

Pressure....I hate deadlines. 11's will be nice and you join the elite club of C-3'er. Maybe one I'll be there. Good luck

That's interesting, because I got quoted $650 to replace the differential cover gasket! Guess who won't be getting my business... :skep:
The same place referred me to a tranny shop. They wanted $650 to reseal the tranny!
I found a tranny shop around the corner that's doing the reseal today for $375 -- plus they're throwing in the rubber hoses at the radiator. And it should be in and out of the shop in one day! :yesnod:
The differential can leak -- very slowly -- until I need to go in there to do something serious.

I took my rear end in to get rebuilt and it cost $500 Cdn. The splines on the end of the shafts were mushroomed, and it was an extra hour of labor ($70)to have him remove the mushrooms to take the splines out. This is supposed to be a common vette problem. I got a new posi clutch, new bearings and seals. Hope your clunk goes away. ;)

$200 for the labor of doing all that is reasonable....especially considering they'll have it done in a day. Good luck with the 11s, I hope to be there with you come spring time :D.
By the way, how many miles did that rear end have on it....now you have me worrying about mine.

I don't know how many miles the rear end has on it.. but it has never been rebuilt (in 34 years)
