You'd only need a broker if you're not driving (or towing) it back yourself.
Back in the '80s I imported 2 cars in the other direction. All I did was stop at the border, declare the car, and write them a check. Quick and easy -- on my way in under 30 minutes.
At the time, you couldn't import anything newer than 15 years old. I think that's changed since NAFTA.
Call your local Customs office. They're usually pretty helpful.

Tom,
I brought my Vette from Toronto to Cleveland 2.5 years ago.
It was a cake walk.
Before I did anything I called the Customs office in Buffalo and got all the info on what type of paperwork I would need to present. As I recall, since the car was over 25 and made in the USA I didnt pay anything.
When you bring it across, you will have to go into the office to obtain the forms that state the car is from Canada. You will meed these forms to be able to title it in the states.
I hope this helps,
Call the customs office first, get the info you will need, I even asked the agent for his name, in case of difficulty when I was crossing.
I was expecting a big old **** probe, turns out they didnt even look at the car.
All this may have changed after Sept 11, but this is how I did it.
