Info on 4+3 tranny
Local paper has one in it. No price included in ad. Same ad also advertises "Corvette 6-sp", which must be a T-56. I know a T-56 will fit in a C3 (with persuasion) but what about the 4+3? Is it a good tranny to put behind a BB? Is it an overdrive? Anyone ever put this into a C3?

Re: Info on 4+3 tranny (Brettmc)
Here is a page I found doing a search :
http://www.4speeds.com/43table.htm
I think it was a unique tranny so repair costs are probably sky high and complicated.

its a good tranny when it works. its basicly like having a 7 speed. its a regular 4 speed. but 2-3-4th ears have an electric OD (i think thats how it is.) There were alot of problems with them though... Like them kicking down a lot for no reason. If well maintained a good tranny. Prolly not good for BB though...

Its basically an overdrive each gear has an overdrive,it has a button on the shifter that you hit everytime you shift it.Behind a big block im not too sure.I had an 87 with one with 244,000 on it.

The Corvette 6 speed is most likely the ZF-6 speed, which is stronger than the T56.
As for the 4+3, the 4 speed is good, the overdrive isn't, can be made somewhat reliable with higher outputs if you throw some money at it.
